Traffic Lights

Traffic Lights : Touch sensitive overdrive

Features
  • Three traffic light coloured LED's which respond to picking dynamics
  • Full frequency (no bass loss)
  • Volume and gain knobs ("rock" and "action" as per customers request)
  • Variable gain (from "quite a bit" to "quite a lot")
  • Hand wired
  • Hand drilled
  • True bypass

Notes
Case pre-painted white, with black gloss spray-paint stripe
Decals of the dry-rub variety
No PCB - stripboard used instead
LED's light up as you play and respond to picking dynamics. This is not just novelty - the LED's form a part of the clipping stage and are responsible for the character of the overdrive. The harder you play, the more the LEDs will light up and the more overdrive will be produced

I had planned to post a video demonstration of the pedal in action, but unlike Pere Ubu it turns out I don't have the technology, so you'll have to make do with this woefully out of focus picture instead. I was trying to play guitar to generate the lights and take the picture at the same time.

Samples
All samples feature clean guitar sound before the pedal is engaged. Samples were recorded using a middle lipstick pickup direct to PC.

Looks very cool, sounds decent. Bet it's good on bass eh?

Thank you. Believe it or not I haven't tried it on bass yet. Maybe I'll do that tonight...
